Trim Healthy Mama 3 Ingredient Iced Chai Latte

I’ve loved iced chai lattes since my sister and I decided to try making our own chai in high school….we bought whole spices (star anise, cloves, cinnamon, and so on) and used a mortar and pestle to grind them into our own blend. We were inordinately proud of the resulting drink and enjoyed it daily for weeks. This drink tastes similar to me but it’s much easier to make!

You can make your own cold brew chai tea concentrate by simply steeping chai tea bags in water in the refrigerator. One tea bag per every four ounces of water creates a double-strength brew, which, when combined in equal parts with almond milk and then sweetened with stevia, creates a quick and delicious drink that makes for the ideal afternoon treat.

I’m all about drinks that are just pour and go – no measuring, blending, or hauling out a huge array of ingredients.

These are my favorite brands for this recipe – Almond Breeze Almond Cashew Blend milk, Stash Decaf Chai Spice tea, and Stevita liquid stevia extract. You can use your favorites or try other brands, but I can guarantee a delicious chai if you buy these brands 🙂

What’s Making Me Happy This Week:

Reading. I’m reading three books right now and I am obsessed with each of them, which is unusual and exciting (at least in my life!). I finish about 50% of books I start because I’m picky and only want to read books that I genuinely love. These ones are all keepers.

On the novel front I’m re-visiting Dune, a classic work of science fiction that is equal parts fascinating and complex. For non-fiction, a friend recommendation called The Hands-On Home, a modern homekeeping manual with a green, relaxed approach to cooking and cleaning that I love – and Free+Style: Maximize Sport and Life Performance with Four Basic Movements, an incredible book about dissecting and reframing human movement into simple, understandable patterns. It answers so many questions I didn’t even realize I had. It’s a hard book to explain, but if you’re at all interested in human movement, fitness, or anatomy, I highly recommend it.

  • I bet this would be great with any strongly flavored tea (including green tea!), though I have yet to play around with variations.
  • Heat up the tea mixture and give it a quick blend in your blender (or froth it with a milk frother if you’re lucky enough to own one) for a delicious and foamy hot chai latte.

Trim Healthy Mama 3 Ingredient Iced Chai Latte

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Yield: 1 serving

This quick and easy chai is sweet, creamy, and perfectly spiced - and it couldn't be easier to make. It's a Trim Healthy Mama Fuel Pull treat.

  • 1 cup chai tea concentrate (see below)
  • 1 cup unsweetened nondairy milk of choice
  • 10-12 drops liquid stevia

  1. Pour all ingredients into a large jar or cup filled with ice. Stir or shake to combine and enjoy immediately.

To make chai concentrate, place 8 chai tea bags in a jar and add 32 ounces of cold water (you can make more or less if you like - just use 4 ounces of water per tea bag). Cover and steep in refrigerator overnight. It will keep in the fridge for at least a week - I just leave the tea bags in the jar the whole time.
